The Dr. Gulshan Approach
Not Therapy as Usual
Therapy isn’t just about symptom relief — it’s about becoming whole.
At Dr. Gulshan Psychology, I offer a unique approach for adults 18 and older who are ready to stop performing wellness and start actually healing.
My practice serves high-achieving professionals, creatives, and sensitive souls across New York State —
especially those living with complex trauma, perfectionism, or long-held emotional pain.
Whether you’re carrying the unspoken weight of your history or feel like your past is still living in your bones, this work is designed to meet you with depth, dignity, and care.
You are not broken.
You are becoming whole.™

For My People
This work is for the ones who always had to hold it together.
The perfectionists, the caregivers,
the ones who excel on paper but feel lost in quiet moments.
My people are often the strong ones in the room —
the ones others rely on.
The ones who rarely ask for help.
This space is for you to not have to hold it all alone anymore.

This is what therapy with me actually looks like!
Yes, that’s a Bidoof shirt. Yes, I take therapy seriously.
Yes, both things can be true.
A Soul-Honoring, Evidence-Based Approach, and Integrative Expertise
Hello!
I’m Dr. Gulshan Nandinee Salim.
I practice under the name Dr. Gulshan —
not because it’s trendy, but because it’s how people have come to know me.
It feels warm, grounded, and uniquely mine.
For many of my patients, that familiarity becomes part of the safety we build together.
I am a licensed psychologist in
New York State.
My work blends deep clinical training with a creative, trauma-informed lens.
You’ll experience a space that’s equal parts structured and soul-honoring —
where evidence-based techniques meet warmth, intuition,
and a profound respect for the sacredness of your story.
Treatment modalities
Therapy with me doesn’t follow a rigid manual.
While I tailor my approach to each person,
I often draw from the following modalities:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Gaining awareness of unhelpful thought patterns, behaviors, and beliefs,
then learning how to shift them in practical, structured ways.
Especially useful when trauma has shaped how you see yourself and the world.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
A specialized form of CBT for trauma —
focused on identifying and transforming the beliefs trauma leaves behind,
especially around safety, power, and worthiness.
Positive Psychology Tools
Rebuilding not just what was broken, but also what was missing.
We explore meaning, resilience, creativity, and the parts of your identity that have always deserved to thrive.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Helping you explore the different “parts” of your inner world —
like the high achiever, the people pleaser, the angry protector —
and building compassion for each of them.
We work toward unburdening the parts that carry trauma and restoring balance inside.
Mindfulness-Based Techniques
These may include grounding practices, body-based awareness, and tuning into what’s happening in the present moment without judgment — especially helpful when your nervous system feels stuck in the past.

You Are Not Broken.
You Are Becoming Whole.™
That isn’t just a tagline —
it’s the foundation of this work.
If you’ve ever felt “too much,” “too intense,” or “too sensitive,” —
know that here, those parts are not flaws.
They’re invitations.
They’re proof of your depth.

A Trauma Therapy Method Like No Other
I also offer Haunted House Therapy™ —
a trauma-repair method I’ve developed and refined over years of clinical use with adults navigating deep, layered pain.
Haunted House Therapy™ is especially helpful for those living with complex PTSD (CPTSD) or the effects of prolonged trauma.
We don’t just talk about the past —
we walk through it.
Room by room.
Until you no longer feel like a guest in your own life.

When You’re Ready
Healing doesn’t have to start with answers.
It can start with curiosity.
If you’re not sure you’re “ready for therapy,” that’s okay.
You don’t have to be ready for everything — just ready to start.
I offer a free 30-minute consultation so you can ask questions,
get a feel for the process,
and see if we’re a fit.
No pressure. No rush.
Just a chance to exhale.
