Frequently Asked Questions
If you’ve been searching for trauma therapy in New York but still feel uncertain, this page is for you.
Below are some common questions —
especially from adults who’ve tried therapy before,
but still feel stuck, overwhelmed, or haunted by the past.
If you're looking for therapy that goes deeper
or wondering whether Haunted House Therapy™ is the right fit, you'll find answers here.
I’ve tried therapy before. What makes this different?
Many of my people have seen multiple therapists before finding me.
If you’ve tried skills-based therapy or symptom management
and still feel like something’s missing, you’re not alone.
Haunted House Therapy™ is not about coping harder.
It’s about exploring what never had space to be seen, named, or healed.
What is Haunted House Therapy™?
Haunted House Therapy™ is my signature trauma-repair method.
It uses a metaphor: your inner life as a house,
to explore what trauma has locked away.
We don’t rush or force open doors.
We move room by room, light by light,
reclaiming the parts of you that feel lost, silenced, or scared.
You can read the full introduction to this method here:
Is this therapy only for trauma survivors?
While many of my patients have experienced trauma,
you don’t need a specific diagnosis to work with me.
If you feel haunted by parts of your past,
overwhelmed by perfectionism,
emotionally burned out,
or stuck in old relational patterns —
this work may be a fit.
We’ll explore what you carry, not just what happened to you.
What kinds of therapy do you use?
My approach blends evidence-based modalities with narrative and metaphor.
I often draw from:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed techniques
Mindfulness-based methods
Positive Psychology
My own clinical method:
Haunted House Therapy™

What if I’m not sure this is right for me?
That’s okay.
You don’t need to be certain to begin.
The free consultation is designed to explore fit —
no pressure, no commitment.
We’ll talk through what you’re looking for,
what therapy might feel like with me,
and whether we’re the right match.
Do you work with people outside of New York?
At this time, I can only work with individuals who reside in New York State, where I am licensed as a psychologist.
If you’re located outside of NY, I encourage you to explore therapy directories like TherapyDen or Inclusive Therapists to find someone who resonates with your values.
What is your session fee?
My fee is $450 per 45-minute session.
This includes all preparation, clinical care, and documentation provided between sessions.
I currently see a limited number of patients each week to ensure depth and high-quality care.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not bill insurance directly.
However, I can provide a superbill (a special receipt) that you can submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement.
If you’d like help navigating the process, you might find these third-party services useful:
Thrizer – helps patients use out-of-network benefits like in-network ones
Mentaya – checks insurance and offers claim support for therapy
While I’m not affiliated with either company, many patients have found them helpful.
Working outside of insurance allows me to provide fully personalized, confidential care without being limited by diagnosis requirements, treatment caps, or external clinical reviews.
If you’re unsure whether this model is right for you, we can explore that together during your free consultation.
