Whether you arrived through a search, a referral, or one of those 2am rabbit holes where you’re trying to put a name to something that’s been hurting for a long time — you’re in the right place.

 

This blog, Becoming Whole, is an extension of the therapy space I offer: honest, warm, and written for high-achieving professionals and creatives who are carrying more than they show.

 

Who Is This Blog For?

This space is for you if you’ve ever:

•       Done therapy before and felt like something essential was still missing

•       Been told you’re “so self-aware” — and still felt stuck

•       Achieved everything you were “supposed to” and wondered why it doesn’t feel like enough

•       Suspected your anxiety, perfectionism, or emotional exhaustion might be rooted in something deeper

•       Wanted a therapist who would actually go there with you — not just manage your symptoms

 

You don’t have to be in crisis to deserve care. You don’t have to look like you’re struggling. Many of the people I work with are highly functional, deeply thoughtful, and privately exhausted.

I’ll be writing about things that matter to the people I work with — and to me, honestly. Topics will include:

•       Emotional burnout, self-worth, and the cost of always holding it together

I write from both my clinical training and my humanity. You’ll find research-informed content here, but you won’t find cold or clinical. These are conversations I wish more people were having out loud.

 

Who Am I, and Why Does This Practice Exist?

I’m Dr. Gulshan N. Salim, Psy.D. — a licensed psychologist in New York specializing in trauma therapy for high-achieving adults. I work with professionals, creatives, and deep feelers who have often spent years being told they’re doing great, while privately wondering why nothing has ever quite touched the thing that still hurts.

 

I built this practice because I kept meeting people whose pain had been managed but never truly met. People who were brilliant at coping and exhausted by it.

 

Out of that work came something I now call Haunted House Therapy™ — a trauma-repair method that uses metaphor, depth, and care to gently reclaim the rooms of your story that trauma once locked away. It’s not about pushing through. It’s about learning to walk through your own house again, room by room, at your own pace.

A Note on Why I Write

There’s a lot of therapy content on the internet. Most of it is either too clinical to feel human, or too vague to be useful.

 

I want this blog to be neither. I want it to be the kind of writing that makes someone feel genuinely seen — not just categorized. The kind that says: I know what it’s like to hold everything together on the outside while something inside is still quietly unraveling.

 

If even one post here helps someone feel less alone in what they’re carrying, it’s worth writing.
